DİYARBAKIR - Ergani Municipality Co-Mayor Meryem Yıldız who was replaced by a trustee, stating that AKP government is fighting against the will of the Kurds instead of the virus, said they will not accept this usurpation of will.

 

While the world is fighting against the coronavirus, trustees were appointed to HDP's Batman, Ergani, Silvan, Lice and Eğil Municipalities. Search continues at the Ergani City Hall while Co- Mayor Ahmet Kaya was taken into custody during the polcie raid on his home. There is a police blockade at the service building while Co-Mayor Meryem Yıldız and Municipal Councilors are not allowed in the building.

 

Yıldız reacting to the appointment of trustee, said AKP insists on their policy of not recognizing peoples' will. Yıldız stating that their municipality is usurped unlawfully, said the people of Ergani will not accept this unlawfulness. Yıldız emphasizing the fact that as the elected mayors they can not enter the city hall, said AKP is turning the coronavirus crisis into an opportunity and said: "AKP who must be fighting against the virus, is fighting against the will of the Kurds. Peoples of Turkey will not accept this."
