NEWS CENTER – The ceremony in which the “Peace and Democratic Society Group” destroyed its weapons upon the call of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan was watcjed with interest by people in many cities.
Upon the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the "Peace and Democratic Society Group" organised a ceremony in Şikefta Casenê in the countryside of Sulaymaniyah.
People in many cities watched the ceremony in which weapons were laid down and burnt with great interest in front of their screens.
The ceremony was watched in Amed (Diyarbakır), Êlih (Batman), Şirnex (Şırnak), Sêrt (Siirt), Mêrdîn (Mardin), Riha (Urfa), Adana, Mersin, Istanbul.
In cities, screens were set up in different rooms for people who could not fit into the halls. The audience often chanted "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)", "Bijî berxwedana gerilla (Long live resistance of guerrilla)", "Şehit namirin (Martyrs don’t die)" and "Bi can bi xwin em terene ey Serok (with blood and life we are with you Leader)" with tears and applause.
Women who could not control their tears said: "We trust our Leader, we do not trust any state. We will not forget our martyrs".
The audience, who watched the broadcasted footage with rapt attention, had emotional moments. In some houses where there was an electric outage, people watched the historical moments on their mobile phones. In Êlih, a young woman saw her relative in the group that laid down their weapons and she fainted.
