WAN – A one-month visitation ban has been imposed on prisoners at Van High Security Prison.
It has been reported that inmates held in wards C-9, C-13, C-16, C-33, and C-21 of Van High Security Closed Prison have been banned from receiving visits for one month due to their participation in a “noise protest.”
The protest reportedly took place in response to the alleged beating of three prisoners by guards on March 18, as they were being taken from the infirmary back to their ward.
Following the incident, the prison administration imposed the visitation ban as a disciplinary measure.
Families who went to the prison for scheduled visits and were informed of the ban expressed strong reactions to the decision.
