NEWS CENTER – As the war between Iran and Israel entered its 11th day, Evin Prison in Tehran, where political prisoners are held, was targeted by an Israeli airstrike.
While the prison gate was damaged after the attack, no announcement has been made yet on whether there were casualties or wounded. According to Rojnews, based on local sources, the attack was carried out at night. While the explosions were heard in a wide area in the Evin region, dense smoke rose around the prison.
In the shared footage, it is seen that the gate of Evin Prison was targeted and bombed with an airstrike. Although some sources stated that the incident took place on 18 June, the exact date of the bombing has not yet been determined.
After the attack, the prison was closed to entrances and exits. Many ambulances and fire brigades were dispatched to the scene. It is known that there are many political prisoners, journalists, human rights defenders and foreign citizens in the prison.
While there has been no official statement from Iran yeti the Israeli administration has not made any confirmation or denial regarding the attack.
