ANKARA - According to RSF's "World Press Freedom Index", Turkey has been ranked in the "very serious" category.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) announced its "2025 World Press Freedom Index" ranking. In the ranking, Turkey ranked 159th out of 180 countries. Turkey, which ranked 158th in 2024, dropped 1 place in 2025. According to the report, Turkey dropped again due to unfavourable conditions at the national level and remained in the "very serious" category.
RSF included Turkey in the "very serious" category, which applies to 42 countries where press freedom is completely absent or where it is dangerous to practice journalism.
Norway ranked 1st in the "World Press Freedom Index", followed by Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland in the top 5.
