NEWS CENTER - The Autonomous Administration made a statement on the recent attacks in the areas where Alawites live in Syria.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration for North and East Syria issued a written statement on the latest developments in Syria. The statement read:

"With the rapid developments in Syria and after the fall of the Ba'ath regime, it is essential to move towards adopting a mindset that builds a modern Syria. The unity and solidarity of the Syrian people is a historical necessity in developing a national administrative model for Syria based on justice and equality.

The diversity present in our Syrian homeland is a historical richness with national and societal value. This richness reflects the true identity of Syria, which the Ba'ath regime stripped away and obscured.

What is happening on the Syrian coast against our Alawite brothers, as well as the burning of Christmas trees in Hama a few days ago, and also in Homs, does not serve Syria’s interests or its future. Preserving Syrian national diversity and richness is a crucial foundation for building a strong Syria.

We in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria affirm that protecting Syria’s diversity and pluralism, and respecting symbols, customs, and traditions, is an urgent necessity. Moreover, safeguarding the rights and responsibilities of all affiliations, sects, and components is a national duty that cannot be compromised.

We also emphasize that continuing to adopt a misguided approach in dealing with any component of Syria by any force or party will have negative repercussions. It will not serve stability in Syria and will lead to clashes and conflicts that we see as a threat to Syria’s unity. This is something we have strived to prevent for many years by adopting our line based on the Democratic Nation project, where the unity and solidarity of components are grounded in partnership and shared struggle against projects that fuel conflict and discord."
