WAN - DEM Party politicians and co-mayors of the municipality stated that the appointment of trustees usurpation and said: "We will not surrender our will to the usurpers and we will continue our watch protests."

Following the appointment of a trustee to Miks (Bahçesaray) Municipality of Wan (Van) on 29 November, the vigil in front of the municipality continues. Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Şax (Çatak) District Co-mayor Tayyip Balga, one of the participants of the vigil, said: "There is nothing legal about the trusteeship, it is completely usurping the will of the people. The trustees are an indication that the current system is completely over. We went to the elections and won our own municipalities, but the government, which cannot accept this defeat, is seizing the will of the people by appointing trustees again with such policies. Our people must resist against the trustees, they must protect the will of their own choice. If our people resist against the trustees, we can make them take a step back. No one should accept this oppression and they should use their democratic rights."

'PEOPLE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THIS USURPING UNDERSTANDING'

Gülten Baran, Co-mayor of Şax Municipality, stated that the vigil protests against trustee appointments and interventions against the will of the people will continue and said: "The trustee is a coup against the will of the people of Miks. These people went to the election and voted in favour of DEM Party candidates. We absolutely do not accept this lawlessness. We will continue to resist and we will continue to stand by our people. From here we call out to all Kurdish people; We will not surrender our will to the usurpers and we will continue our vigil in front of our usurped municipality. Our people should also protect their will and should not accept this usurper understanding."

Rabia Başak Koç, Co-Mayor of Artêmet (Edremit) Municipality, said that the justice vigils against trustee appointments will continue. Emphasising that trustee policies are ignoring the will of the people.

"In recent years, we have faced an 8-year struggle against trustees. While trustees were appointed to many municipalities, now they targeted Miks Municipality and appointed trustees. We have never accepted trustees who usurped the will of the people and we will never accept them. This people deserve to be governed by their elected co-mayors. The services of our co-mayors for the district are evident. However, the current mentality, which could not digest these services, once again ignored the will of the people by appointing trustees," she said.

'THE STRUGGLE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL WE GET WHAT IS OURS'

Stating that they will stand against these trustee practices with the support of the people, Rabia Başak Koç continued as follows: "We invite all our people to our justice watch that we have started for the last three days. We emphasise that they should not remain silent against this lawlessness. We will never give up this struggle for justice until we get back what is ours. Our people must protect their will and resist these antidemocratic practices."
