ÊLIH / MERDÎN - DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar called for a rally to be held in Êlih on November 17 and said: “Let's take our place in the field to defend freedom against the isolation regime.”

Following the appointment of trustees to the municipalities of Mêrdîn (Mardin), Êlih (Batman) and Xelfetî (Halfeti) in Riha (Urfa), protests in Êlih continue. The crowd gathered at Yılmaz Güney Park on the 11th day of the protests. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad - TJA) activists, Peace Mothers' Assembly and a delegation from Şirnex (Şırnak) attended the protest.

The masses marching towards Basın Junction chanted “Bijî berxwedana Batmanê (Long live resistance of Batman)”, “Jin, jiyan, azadî (Women, life, freedom)”, “Kayyim talan e berxwedan jiyan e (Kayyum is plunder, resistance is life)” and “We will win if we resist”.

SHOPKEEPERS SUPPORT THE MARCHERS

The march was accompanied by the banner “Trustee, speak up, where are you from?” brought by the delegation from Şirnex, and the citizens in the neighborhood supported the march with applause and victory signs. A shopkeeper offered water to the marchers. The march ended at Basın Junction with the slogans “Thief trustee” and “The trustees will go, the peoples will come”.

UÇAR: LET'S BE IN THE FIELD TO END THE REGIME OF ISOLATION

DBP Co-Chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, referring to the deaths of 5 children in Izmir, “The system that caused those who were left alone in poverty and lost their lives is the same as the system that appointed trustees,” she said and  reminded the statements of AKP Group Deputy Chairperson Özlem Zengin that the deaths of children cannot be associated with poverty, Uçar said: “They take from the people's table and condemn them to death, while they enrich themselves and their cronies with the trustee wheel.”

Stating that as long as the Kurdish issue is not resolved, multifaceted problems cannot be solved, Uçar continued as follows: “The government, which feeds on war, puts the trustee policy into effect. In the solution and negotiation process, Mr. Öcalan showed his voice and solution power under unequal conditions. Let no one state that Mr. Öcalan has no power. The AKP-MHP government, the enemy of justice and democracy, does not want a solution. If they want a solution, the isolation in İmralı must be lifted and Mr. Öcalan's ideas should reach the people. We invite everyone who wants to fight for the establishment of real democracy in this country to Êlih on November 17. Let us take our place in the field to defend freedom against the isolation regime.”

The statement ended with the slogans “The messenger of peace is in İmralı”, “Bijî serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)” and “We will win if we resist”.

The masses continue to wait at Basın Junction against the usurpation of will.
