ANKARA – The Ankara branch of the "Freedom March", which was launched in Gemlik to ensure the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and to solve the Kurdish issue, has set out.

The "Freedom March", which was launched in the Gemlik district of Bursa under the leadership of Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP), Assistance to Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations, Solidarity, Unity and Culture, the Association (MEBYA-DER) and the Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations of Med Prisoners and Convict Families (MED TUHAD-FED), continues today.

The Ankara branch of the march, which was launched to ensure the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, and to solve the Kurdish issue, also set out. Many people came together in the HEDEP Ankara Provincial Organization building. The police tied the buses that the citizens would take.

'WE WILL GO TO GEMLIK NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS'

Citizens then set off with their private vehicles. HEDEP Colemêrg MP Onur Düşünmez, who made a short speech before setting off, said that they would march to Gemlik despite all kinds of obstacles.

Düşünmez said: “We are here to inform the public. As you all know, we are going to Gemlik to lift the isolation imposed on Öcalan. No matter what, we will go to Gemlik. We will do everything we can to pave the way for freedom. I would like to call out to the law enforcement officers who tried to stop us unlawfully with different excuses; No matter how many barricades you build, we will destroy those barricades and the isolation. We will also bring the Leader (Abdullah Öcalan) to physical freedom. We have to raise our voices and expand the struggle."

After the statement, the slogan "Bijî berxwedana Îmraliyê(Long live the resistance of Öcalan)" was shouted. Citizens then set off towards Gemlik with their private vehicles.
