İSTANBUL - HDP Hewlêr Representative Nahide Ermiş said that the calls to eliminate the risk of conflict between Kurds were insufficient, and suggested the people to march to the areas at risk of conflict

Unable to achieve the desired result with the military operation launched on April 24 against the Federated Kurdistan Region, Turkey this time tried to create conflict between Kurdish forces. Using the KDP as a tool for it, Turkey took control of the KDP economically, politically and militarily. In this context, the forces affiliated with the Barzani family continue to establish positions and military bases in areas close to the areas where PKK members are located. However, the uncertainty of the fate of the 3 HPG members besieged in the Bexmê Village of the Xelifan district on July 26 escalated the tension.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Hewlêr Representative Nahide Ermiş spoke to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) regarding the political and military atmosphere in the region, the attitudes and objectives of the KDP and Turkey as well as international forces, the danger of a possible conflict between Kurdish forces and the efforts to prevent it.

EXCITEMENT OF SELF-GOVERNMENT TURNED INTO A DISSAPPOINTMENT

Reminding that the status of Federated Kurdistan was recognized in 2003 after the US invasion of Iraq, and the people living here began to govern themselves for the first time, Ermiş said that the people's ruler was a Kurd and they had the feeling of living a free life on their own land. Ermiş told that the excitement of self-government soon turned into dissappointment and added, "For example, I am in Hewlér right now. When we move ten steps away from our own institution, we are confronted with all kinds of symbols that make us feel the presence of the Turkish state. They are spreading in the region in terms of intelligence, culture, military, politics and economy."

‘NO POLITICAL WILL AND MANAGEMENT’

Stating that it is not possible to talk about political power, administration and will in Federated Kurdistan at the current stage, Ermiş explained his reason as follows: "This is not a Kurdish administration. This is at best a Kurdish company that protects the interests of Turkey. They are trying to assimilate the society, ripping them apart from their libertarian nature and mobilize them around their own interests. And this is obviously not a policy that puts the interests, freedoms and laws of the Kurdish people to the center."

'A HUNDRED YEAR OLD POLICY'

Mentioning the cross border operations of Turkey, Ermiş said: "When Turkey could not get what it wants from these operations, they tried to get the Kurdish forces fight each other, underlining that dividing and conquering is a hundred year old Turkish policy.

XELİFAN SITUATION

Stressing that the dissappearance of the three HPG members in Xelifan by the KDP intensified the situation, Ermiş said: "It is very intense here. Anything can happen any moment."

EFFORTS FOR PEACE

Stating that the efforts made to stop a possible civil war were insufficient, Ermiş said: "It does not seem possible at this point to prevent the Kurdish civil war with calls for peace. We have to take action. Our friends can make these calls alright and express their concerns. But we are the ones who will suffer from this. We are the ones who will lose their homes, lands and freedoms."

'KURDISH PEOPLE CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM'

Ermiş said, "If the Kurdistan forces, the parties and initiatives that represent the people of Kurdistan cannot demonstrate the will to prevent a civil war, it will be our fault. It is unreasonable to expect the capitalist powers to prevent this war. On the contrary, they will encourage it. It is unrealistic to expect USA to come and make peace between the Kurds. Nor the Russian, or the Turks. They will use the situation in their own interests. We can not expect the solution from them. Kurdish people can solve this problem on their own. It is the only way. The Kurdish politicians, intellectuals, artists, women, youth must come to the Federated Kurdistan Region and march to the areas in risk of conflict. We can not lose another century. The prices we had to pay is out there for everyone to see. We lost a century in conflict. This is where a will has to come into play. That will must come from within the Kurds. Civil society itself must step in. The power of civil society is above all power. The will of our people has the power to change and transform. Let's take that step."

CALL FOR THE KURDISH PRESS

Expressing that the Kurdish press also has important duties and responsibilities at this point, Ermiş noted that the Kurdish press should keep national unity on the agenda or it could all go very wrong very fast."
