NEWS CENTER – Abdulkerim Iweyid Fendi al-Iweyid, one of the commanders of Deir Ez-zor Military council announced that at least 150 attacks have been carried out against military and security centres since the beginning of the year.
Al-Iweyid also said 6 of their fighters lost their lives in these attacks. Speaking to Hawar News Agency (ANHA), al-Iweyid said that their forces are ready to respond to all threats.
Stressing that DAESH cells have been attacking military forces, security forces, service infrastructures and civilians with new methods since the beginning of the years, al-Iweyid said: “DAESH changed its strategy and tactics after the chaos caused by the fall of the Baath regime. DAESH took advantage of this situation to reorganise and gather new gangs. It is attacking civilians, service institutions and military forces.”
Pointing out that Turkey’s attacks play a negative role in the fight against DAESH, al-Iweyid said: “As a result of our long years of experience in the fight against terrorism, we know that DAESH cells are behind most attacks. The DAESH terrorist organisation took advantage of our resistance against the attacks of the Turkish state to recruit new gangs to its ranks. However, their main aim is to undermine the security of the region, break and intimidate the will of the people and revive their dream of controlling the region.”
Al-Iweyid stated that 15 DAES attacks were organised against their forces only in the Deir Ez-zor region. “In the last month, more than 10 attacks were organised against our military and security forces and 6 of our fighters were martyred,” he added.
Emphasising that his forces are ready for any threat, al-Iweyid concluded: "Our operations yielded results. As a result, many active cells were destroyed, thus peace came to the region. Our aim is to protect civilians and not to allow DAESH to take advantage of the situation and return."
