WAN - "We experienced the enthusiasm of Newroz early. We will resist, they will never subjugate us," say mothers in vigil.
Mothers who have been taking part in the resistance in front of Wan (Van) Metropolitan Municipality for 4 days do not leave the protest area for a moment. Mothers, who have been resisting day and night in front of the municipality, spoke about their protest.
Macide Varhan, who has been on watch for 4 days against the attempt to appoint a trustee, said, "We will continue to resist. Because they want to appoint a trustee to our will. We do not accept this as a people. We are in resistance against the mentality that ignores us. We experienced the enthusiasm of Newroz early. We will succeed, they can never subjugate us. The more the people come to the municipality, the more we resist."
Stating that the municipalities are the will of the people, Feride Özlü emphasised that they will resist until the end. Calling on all Kurdish people, Feride Özlü said, "Protect and defend your municipalities."
'THEY CANNOT TOLERATE THE SUCCESS OF THE KURDS'
Cevahir Abi said, "We defend our language. We do not want the trustee appointments. They ignore the language used by millions of Kurds. Even our identity is forbidden. Our co-chairs are our will. We will be in the municipality with our people until the end. They are afraid of the existence of Kurds and the will of women. As they see the success of the Kurds, they cannot accept it."
Reminding that they have been in front of the municipality for 4 days, Aklima Uğur said, "We say that we do not accept the trustees. We are not afraid of their tanks or cannons. Let them withdraw their police and armies in front of our municipality as soon as possible. We will definitely win."
Underlining that they are on watch to stand against oppression, Saniye Avşar said, "The injustice done to us is oppression. We will no longer be oppressed and exploited. Our struggle is for rights and peace. No mother should cry anymore. We resist despite the cold weather. We are here until the last drop of our blood."
Besna Akış emphasised that they have been defending their will for days and said, "Let no more mothers cry and let there be peace. We are defending peace. We will be here until we get our freedom."
