DİYARBAKIR - The photograph of Hafız Akdemir, a reporter with the Özgür Gündem Newspaper who was killed in an armed attack in Diyarbakır in 1992 was removed from the gravestone.

Journalist Hafız Akdemir,  a reporter with the Özgür Gündem Newspaper who was killed in an armed attack in Diyarbakır in 1992 was commemorated by his family upon his grave.  The family who went to Akdemir's grave noticed that the photograph on the gravestone was removed and vandalized. The family said: "This is a shame. What do they want from the gravestone of a man who died years ago. Vandalizing gravestones is a crime against humanity."

It is not known who or by whom the photo of Akdemir, who has been laid to rest 28 years ago has been vandalized.
