SİİRT - The Ministry of Interrior did not stop appointing trustees to HDP municipalities even during the epidemic. Trustees were appointed to Siirt, Iğdır, Kurtalan and Baykan Municipalities.

 

The Ministry of Interior has appointed trustees to Siirt, Iğdır, Kurtalan and Baykan municipalities of HDP. Siirt Municipality Co-Mayor Berivan Helen Işık, Baykan Municipality Co-Mayor Ramazan Sarsılmaz, Iğdır Municipality Co-Mayor Yaşar Akkuş and Kurtalan Municipality Co-Mayor Baran Akgül were removed from their posts and trustees were appointed to replace them. Siirt Governor Ali Fuat Atik, Baykan District Governor Mehmet Tunç and Kurtalan İhsan Emre Aydın, were appointed as deputy mayors.

 

After the assignment of trustees, the surroundings of the municipal buildings were blockaded by the police.

 

As part of the investigation carried out against them, Siirt Mayor HDP's Berivan Helen Işık, HDP's Iğdır Mayor Yaşar Akkuş and Baykan Mayor Ramazan Sarsılmaz and Kurtalan Mayor Baran Akgül were detained.

 

Trustees were appointed to 44 of the 65 municipalities won by HDP in the March 31 Local Elections so far. 6 elected Co- Mayors were not given their election certificates because they were previously dismissed from their offices with law decrees during the state of emergency.
