Müftüoğlu: New political actors should come forward

ANKARA - Academician Özgür Müftüoğlu, stating that these days of coronavirus are presenting new opportunities for the labourers, said new political actors should come forward and barbarianism might take over if we can not strive together.

Coronavirus outbreak revealed the contradictions between the state and the society. This fact, which emerged in the package of measures announced by the states under the name of combating the virus, once again revealed the mismatch between the basic interests of citizens and state-capital interests. Turkey is one of the countries that this conflict is most intensely experienced.Özgür Müftüoğlu who is known for her works about labour, evaluated the the position of the working class with the state and society incompatibility that emerged during the pandemic process.

Müftüoğlu added that the current process offers new opportunities for laborers, and that no worker has a chance to fight against the system alone, and emphasized the need for new political actors to emerge in order for the labor value to take action and become an actor. Müftüoğlu said: “Not only is labor exploited, people's right to life is also ignored. At a time when no one wants to go out on the streets, they force the workers to go to work. Both workers' rights of life is violated and their labor is exploited. Despite all this, if nothing can still be done, the unionist mechanisms in the current mindset, perhaps coming from the beginning of the 20th century, that cannot keep up with the changing structure of labor, should now be scrapped."

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY

If we are going to live humanly, if we want our children to live like human beings, this is not possible with this system. I'm not talking about changing something for the better. It will go such a bad place that we can not imagine. The capital is in a dead lock, there is no bottom of it.  So we have to engage in a struggle to overturn this process as soon as possible. Because as the system goes into crisis; it will provide  with new possibilities of its accumulation. It will do this by war, slaughtering nature and exploiting labour more. No one should doubt that. If we cannot stop the process ahead, there will be a period when  authoritarianism increases more. We are experience a process that will come to the point of barbarism. That's why we have to stop this as soon as possible. So this is no longer a luxury. If you want to endure something for your children, there is no other way out except for a struggle together. There is no second way. We will either fight against it or fight against it.
