DEM Party going to field with İmralı agenda: Events in 40 cities, big rally in 3 cities

ANKARA - DEM Party has decided to organise "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings" following two meetings with Abdullah Öcalan. Within the scope of the decision, various events and rallies will be organised in more than 40 cities. 

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) has decided to organise "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings" in response to the messages from the talks with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Within the scope of the meetings, public meetings, various events and rallies will be organised. The decision was taken at the DEM Party Central Executive Committee (MYK) meeting held on 26 January. At the meeting, the talks between the DEM Party's İmralı Delegation and PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the messages resulting from these talks were discussed in detail. After this discussion, it was agreed that public meetings and gatherings were needed to inform the public about the process, how social reconciliation and peace would be possible, and the importance of Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom for peace and democratisation. 
 
EVENTS IN MORE THAN 40 LOCATIONS
 
At the meetins where the steps to be taken in this regard were discussed, a broad programme covering all regions was prepared by the Central Organising Commission within the framework of the decision taken at the MYK: According to this programme, the DEM Party will organise public meetings under the title "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings"  in more than 40 centres between 1-16 February in the context of Öcalan's messages. According to the programme, meetings will be held in all cities in Kurdistan and in dozens of cities in Marmara, Thrace, Aegean, Black Sea, Çukurova and Central Anatolia regions in Turkey. 
 
DEM Party co-chair Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır will take part in the meetings. DEM Party Women's Assembly Spokeperson Halide Türkoğlu, Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairpersons, co-mayors of munisipalities, representatives of component parties, MPs, members of the MYK and Party Assembly (PM) as well as provincial and district organization executioves will take part in these meetings. 
 
3 CITIES 3 MEETINGS
 
As part of the meetings, rallies will be organized in 3 different cities. The firs rally to be attended by Tülay Hatimoğulları will be held in Istanbul on 2 February at Esenyurt Square. Another rally will be held in Amed (Diyarbakır) on 8 February. Tuncer Bakırhan will attend the Amed rally organized by DBP. On 9 February, Tülay Hatimoğulları will attend the rally in Mersin. 
 
MOTHERS, PRISONERS' RELATIVES WILL BE VISITED
 
DEM Party's "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings" will continue after these rallies. Within the scope of the meetings, between 12 and 14 February, in many cities such as Izmir, Istanbul, Amed, Antalya, Aydın and Urfa, shopkeepers will be visited, leaflets will be distributed, public meetings will be held, Peace Mothers and prisoners' relatives will be visited. As part of the meetings, academics, writers and intellectuals will come together in Istanbul with meetings and various events.
