ÊLIH - Calling on everyone to take responsibility for the solution of the Kurdish issue, the members of the Peace Mothers' Assembly of Êlih emphasised that the language and practice of the AKP government must also change in line with the process.

The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) İmralı Delegation held a meeting with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison on 28 December. The 7-point declaration issued by the DEM Party İmralı Delegation after the meeting continues to be discussed in the public opinion.

The delegation travelled to İmralı once again yesterday after the meetings with the parties that have groups in the Parliament.

Members of the Peace Mothers Assembly, which has been waging a struggle in Êlih (Batman) for years, warned the Kurdish people to be vigilant in the ongoing negotiations.

'ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO LANGUAGE AND PRACTICE'

Expressing that the Kurdish people want an honourable peace, Taybet Kayı stated that the attitude of the AKP administration in the ongoing negotiations is not right. Stating that mothers are the most affected by conflict processes, Taybet Kayı said, "Erdoğan should be serious about peace. In other words, both demanding peace and massacring people is an indication of how peace is approached. Let this unserious approach come to an end. Today is the world and tomorrow is the hereafter, whoever commits massacres will be held accountable in the afterlife. Those who have paid the price for peace know what peace means. Those who have seen war know the value of peace."

Taybet Kayı drew attention to the massacres that took place in North and East Syria while the talks were continuing and said, "What kind of enmity is it to enter the land of the Kurdish people and massacre them? What did the Kurds there do to you? Kurds are living there on their own land. However, you slaughter them brutally. They are constantly attacking Rojava. What kind of a process understanding is this. The people there are not stepping back. They massacred people even in the ambulance. But no attack made them take a step back. Tishreen won, the Kurdish people won. If Erdoğan wants the process to end in peace, he should pay attention to his language and practices. We are the rightful ones and we will win."

'MR ÖCALAN MUST MEET WITH THE KURDISH PEOPLE'

Fatma Kaptan said, "The parents of a 7-month-old baby were massacred. Kurds are massacred, detained and arrested every day. What kind of a process will take place without Mr Öcalan being free and without talks outside. As a mother, I ask them to be clear. The Kurdish people insist on a clear and honourable peace. The process of Mr Öcalan meeting with the Kurdish people must be discussed. The way must be paved for this. We do not accept the process being carried out in this way. Let the state be serious. The isolation on Mr Öcalan still continues. Can there be a process in this way? Erdoğan will try to deceive the Kurds until the last moment. We will take steps to realise peace. There is a state that has deceived the Kurdish people countless times. We need to be vigilant against this. They massacred Bavê Teyar, an important artist for the Kurdish people, and many others. The Kurdish people are not like they used to be, they cannot be deceived no matter what they do. We will build honourable peace no matter what."

Nuran Seçkin stated that everyone should take responsibility for the solution of the Kurdish issue and emphasised that civil society organizations and political party representatives should take responsibility for peace. Pointing out that the world has been turned into a war zone by the imperialist powers, Nuran Seçkin said, "War has no winners, but peace has winners. Wanting peace is not a sign of weakness, on the contrary, it is a sign of being strong. Let's build an honourable peace together.  Let the imperialists not win, let the war barons not win. Let the peoples win. If the Kurdish people form their unity in this process, no one will dare to attack them. Mr Öcalan insists on the freedom of all peoples, not his own freedom. He is working for the formation of a process that considers all peoples. Whoever can, should work for the construction of peace."
