NEWS CENTER - Evaulating the claims of the government and media that "PKK is not listening to Öcalan", PKK Central Committee member Helin Ümit said: Nothing has come to the PKK. There is nothing to discuss or respond to."

PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan met with a member of his family for the first time on October 23 after 43 months of absolute isolation. Abdullah Öcalan met with his nephew Ömer Öcalan, Riha MP for the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party). Abdullah Öcalan said: "Isolation continues. If conditions are right, I have the theoretical and practical power to move this process from the ground of conflict and violence to the legal and political ground."

The KCK made a statement shortly after Abdullah Öcalan's message and said: “Our movement will act according to the process that Leader Apo will develop with all its components,” and stated that Abdullah Öcalan’s health, security and working conditions must be established.

Despite this, the government and its media are voicing claims that “the PKK does not listen to Abdullah Öcalan.” Speaking on a special program broadcast on Medya Haber television, PKK Central Committee member Helin Ümit evaluated the claims of the government and its media.

Emphasizing that the meeting held after 43 months was a result of “the resistance of Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish people,” Helin Ümit said that the isolation is still ongoing. Helin Ümit noted that Devlet Bahçeli has an approach of “If we want, we can have them meet, if we don’t want, it won’t happen.”

'NOTHING HAS COME TO THE PKK'

"There is a mentality conflict in this period" Helin Ümit said and added: "They say that the Leader (Abdullah Öcalan) has put forward something and the PKK has not accepted it. Our people already know it, but I am saying it at least for the Turkish public, our friends, and those who do not know us very well. There is nothing coming to the PKK. There is nothing to discuss or respond to. All the evaluations as if it was, that it was said and the PKK has not accepted it are special war games."

Regarding the claims of the government and the media Helin Ümit said: "Let's follow İmralı well, let's follow Leader Apo well. Let's fight for the truth. Otherwise, this poisoning creates a very unhealthy environment."
