NEWS CENTER - Erasmo Palazzotto, who has put Turkish state's chemical attacks on Başûr Kurdistan on the Italian parliament's agenda, said Italy, as a NATO member, should prevent such attacks by the Turkish state.

The attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Başûr Kurdistan have continued, since last April 23.  During which the Turkish army could not advance against the Guerilla resistance;  So it tries to use chemical gases to break this resistance.

On October 24, the Peoples' Defense Forces, the HPG, announced that the Turkish army had carried out 323 chemical weapons attacks against it in the past six months, but the total number exceeds that.

The Italian parliamentarian, Erasmo Palazzotto presented to the Italian Parliament a proposal on the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons against the Kurds, and spoke to our agency about this and the war crimes committed by the Turkish occupying state.

Erasmo Palazzotto explained that the Turkish army uses chemical gases against the Kurds, stressing that they seek to draw attention to this matter, and said: "We have put this issue on the parliament's agenda in order for our government to respond to the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons against the Kurds in Iraq and Syria."

He pointed out that Italy, as a member of NATO, attaches importance to the issue of preventing the Turkish state from using chemical weapons, and continued: "The pressure of international powers can achieve results against the Turkish state. I think that if it is pressured, it will abandon the use of chemical weapons."

He also noted the Turkish state's attacks on Başûr and drew attention to the killing of civilians, saying: "The Turkish state's attack on the Kurdish people is cowardice. We thank the Kurds for eliminating ISIS mercenaries, and for giving them a lesson on democracy in the region. The Kurds showed the world that it is possible to build a democratic system against extremist Islamists."  in the world, and the eradication of extremist mercenaries. It is cowardly for a NATO member force to launch a military attack against this democratic struggle."

He stated that the Italian government should invite independent bodies to investigate the matter, adding: "The allegations of the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons must be investigated. In order to research the Turkish state's use of chemical weapons in Başûr Kurdistan and Syria, forces must open up.  International and human rights organizations should conduct an independent investigation. This action must be taken immediately."

Pointing out that the Italian government can prevent the sale of arms used in conflicts that violate human rights to other countries, he went on: “The Italian government has several times violated this law in the person of the Turkish state. The Italian government should think more broadly in this framework. We have not only introduced the arms embargo.  In this proposal, we made it clear that we should discuss Turkey's role in destabilizing the region as a member of NATO and what position we should take on this matter."

Erasmo Palazzuto explained that the road to peace and freedom is a long road, adding, "The Kurdish people will always resist for the long and difficult road to peace, and we must support them in this resistance."
