ORDU - SES Ordu Branch Chair Ferit Ceylan said that the main reason for the increase in coronavirus cases in the Black Sea provinces is the crowded congresses held by the AKP.

There has been an increase in the Covid-19 cases in many cities, but especially the Black Sea Provinces of Turkey. Ordu, in the Black Sea Region ranks first in the Covid-19 cases, which is followed by Giresun, Trabzon, Samsun and Rize.

It is stated that the crowded AKP congresses held in the last period in the Black Sea region, where the increase of cases is so high, has also been effective. President Erdoğan, who attended the Rize Provincial Congress on February 15 said: "Our congresses are jampacked during the pandemic", bragging about the over crowded congresses. Another congress was held in Ordu last week, which was jampacked as well. Beside the congresses, there has been some very crowded funeral ceremonies where no measures against the Coronavirus was taken.

Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Ordu Branch President Ferit Ceylan evaluated the increase in cases in the city.

A FUNERAL CEREMONY OF 30 THOUSAND PEOPLE WAS HELD

Stating that there is a few reason why Covid-19 cases increased in Ordu, Ceylan said: "A lot of people went to their villages to stay after the pandemic and people started to visit each other at home a lot more. A religious scholar Nuri Genç died and 30 thousand people attended his funeral. A lot of people contracted the virus at that funeral."

AKP CONGRESSES HAD AN IMPORTED ROLE IN THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS

Noting that another factor is the ongoing AKP congresses, Ceylan said that congresses attended by thousands of people will increase the number of cases in many parts of the country. Ceylan said: "What is the meaning of holding indoor congresses during the pandemic? You can hold these congresses with the attandance of the delegates alone. There's no point in squeezing the public in in closed spaces. As a result of these shows of AKP, dozens of people die. They don't have the right to sacrifice people like this. There are 250 new Covid-19 cases a day in Ordu these days. Ordu ranks first in Turkey in terms of new Covid-19 cases. This is the result of state officials not listening to its healthcare professionals and scientists.

'STATE OFFICIALS VIOLATE MEASURES THEMSELVES'

Stating that 50 people working in the directorate including Ordu Provincial Health Director were infected, Ceylan said that most of the infected people were those who attended Nuri Genç's funeral or AKP congresses. Ceylan said: "According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Interior, participation in funerals or weddings was limited to 30 people. Being the one who proposed this, the Minister of Health attends the funeral ceremony, attended by thousands of people. Some people in this country were unable to attend their father's and mother's funeral during the pandemic. So, what are state officials doing at the funerals of thousands of people while people are going through this? How will you expect the people to comply with the measures when you violate them yourself?

COMPLETE LOCK DOWN

Underlining that the only way to solve these problems is a complete lock down, Ceylan underlined that a 14 day lock down is desperately needed all over Turkey and called on to the people to stay in their houses if they don't have to go out.
