İSTANBUL – American linguist Professor, who continues his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the global partner of Boğaziçi University. Dr. Noam Chomsky said the protests of the students against appointed rector Melih Bulu is courageous and honourable and called for support.

While protests against the appointment of Melih Bulu to Boğaziçi University as a rector continues all over Turkey, world respected scientists send messages of support to the students. More than 3 thousand academics and philosopher from the United States and Europe including Judith Butler and Noam Chomsky condemned the police violence and stressed the demand of 'autonomous university' of the students. Academics also called for Bulu to resign.

COURAGEOUS AND HONOURABLE

American linguist and author Noam Chomsky, who works at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the global partner of Boğaziçi University, spoke to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) on the subject. Chomsky expressed that the resistance of the students is courageous and honourable.

Chomsky who told that AKP's President Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu targeting the students is disrespectful and a total nonsense, said: "Resistance against the seperatist discourse and the oppressive regime of the Erdoğan's government will continue. This nonsense has to stop now."

CALL FOR SUPPORT

Stating that active protests and actions against the bullying of government forces should be internationally condemned and the students must be supported by the world, Chomsky demanded that the arrested students  to be released immediately.

Chomsky said: "I think the resistance of the students is courageous and honourable. The fact that the President and the Minister of Interior claims these students are 'terrorists' is absolute nonsense and absurd. I can say that these resistances will grow as the Erdoğan's government insists on its oppressive regime. Active protests and actions against the bullying of government forces should be internationally condemned and the students must be supported by the world."
