DİYARBAKIR - The family of TUAY-DER administrator Müşeher Ülker, who reacted to the imprisonment of Ülker pending trial despite her many diseases, demanded Ülker to be released so that she can continue her treatment at home.

On June 9 many adresses were raided by the police under the scope of the investigation on the administrators and members of the Association for Help and Solidarity with Prisoners' Families (TUAY-DER) in Diyarbakır. 22 people, including the co-chair of the association, Mehmet Emin Güzel, were detained during the raids. 7 people were sent to prison  while 15 people were released on judicial control. In the investigation, which is given a confidentiality order, the solidarity visits of TUAY-DER to prisoners' families, the picnis, the press statement they attended, the visits of condolence and the phone calls were deemed as the grounds of accusation.

TUAY-DER administrator Müşeher Ülker (54) was sent to prison despite many serious health problems. Ülker's daughter Çimen Ülker demanded her mother to be released.

'SHE WAS IMPRISONED, BECAUSE SHE WAS THE VOICE OF THE PRISONERS'

Stating that her mother, who have not committed any illegal activity, was detained and imprisoned unlawfully, daughter Ülker noted that her mother was arrested for the fourth time, as she was also imprisoned back in 1999, 2007, 2012 before this final imprisonment on June 12, 2020. Ülker said that her mother has been facing oppression and persecution because she was the voice of prisoners.

'RISK OF LIVER CANCER'

Emphasizing that her mother has serious health problems, Ülker said, "She was taken to the infirmary 2 times on the day she was imprisoned. She has  cirrhosis disease. If the adequate measures are not taken, there is a possibility of liver cancer. The doctor's warning is in this way. My mother's illness is serious, she needs to be released immediately. We have a medical report. 'Someone with so many diseases is supposed to be on house arrest" said the prison's doctor."

SHE HAS MANY SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS

Noting that prisons continue to be dangerous places for ill prisoners, Ülker said, "The danger of the coronavirus pandemic for the prisons is obvious. Despite this, my ill mother was put in prison. It is impossible for my mother to remain indoors all the time as she suffers from asthma. She passed out many times in prison due to her asthma. Apart from this, my mother has diseases such as Hepatitis B, fiber rupture in her arm, cyst in her kidney, sinusitis cirrhosis, vasodilatation in the brain, migraine, diabetes, nerve diseases and hypertension. Against this unlawfullness we call the public opinion, especially the women to be sensitive. It is nost just my mother, but thousands of ill prisoners behind the walls, let's be the voice of all of them. Their lives are on danger."
