People want to meet Abdullah Öcalan to come to Turkey 2025-06-30 10:57:23 ISTANBUL - A group of 39 people, who want to meet Abdullah Öcalan, will come to Turkey from Europe and hold process-orientated contacts.   The European Forum for Freedom and Peace (EFFP), which includes academics, intellectuals, politicians and journalists who had to go abroad due to the repression in Turkey, has launched a campaign "I want to visit Öcalan" to meet with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   As the campaign continues in many European countries, many people are travelling to Turkey today to express their support for the new process in the context of the democratic solution of the Kurdish question and to present their views.   MEETING WITH ASRIN LAW OFFICE AND DEM PARTY   In this context, 39 names including journalists, writers, academics, trade unionists, parliamentarians and lawyers will hold meetings between 1-2 July. On 1 July, the delegation will meet with Asrin Law Office, the lawyer of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   On the same day, the delegation will visit the Istanbul provincial organisation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party and then meet with party's Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan.   ROUND TABLE MEETING   The delegation's contacts will continue with a "Round Table Meeting" to be held at a hotel in Taksim on 2 July. At the meeting, the members of the delegation will present their views on the solution of the Kurdish issue and make suggestions on how the international community can contribute to the process. A joint declaration is expected to be made public after the meeting.
