NEWS CENTER - SOHR reported that Abu Amsha, commender of the 62nd Division, was summoned to Damascus and refused the proposed change of position. Reports claiming that Abu Amsha had been detained following the development, but they have not yeet been confirmed.

 

The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Abu Amsha, commander of the Syrian Army’s 62nd Division, was summoned to the military command in Damascus. According to SOHR, Abu Amsha was asked to step down as commander of the 62nd Division and take up another position within the Central Region Corps. It was reported that Abu Amsha rejected the proposal and requested the position of corps commander during the meeting. 

 

Abu Amsha’s hours long stay at the military command building in Damascus sparked claims that he had been detained. SOHR stated that the allegations circulating on social media were not based on verified information and that no official statement had been made regarding the source of meeting. 

 

MILITARY ALERT AROUND THE DIVISION

 

SOHR reported that the state of military alert that began last night around the positions of the 62nd Division has continued for more than 15 consecutive hours. Reinforcements from government forces had been sent to the area and that the military deployment had been increased.
