DBP: Government must take concrete steps towards solution 2025-03-06 14:52:50   AMED - In the final declaration of the DBP Provincial Co-chair and Party Assembly meeting, it was emphasised that the government of the state must no longer be in a state of uncerainty about the roas map for the solution and must take clearer and more concrete steps.    Democratic Regions Party (DBP) announced the final declaration of the Party Assembly (PM) and Provincial Co-chairs meeting held in Amed (Diyarbakır). The declaration said, "Upon the call for 'Peace and Democratic Society' made by Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February 2025, DBP held an extraordinary meeting with Party Assembly members and provincial co-chairs under the leadership of our Co-chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır. At the meeting, detailed evaluations were made on the topics of 'Mr. Öcalan's call and the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue'."   The following findings were listed in the declaration:   *Mr Öcalan's call has a historical meaning not only for the Kurdish people but also for all peoples and the democratisation process of Turkey. This call is the expression of a strong will that will pave the way for peace, freedom and equality. As the Democratic Regions Party, we will increase our struggle with all our strength to embrace this call, to evolve the steps taken into a process and to protect the gains of our peoples.    *The construction of a democratic society must become a way of life, not just a goal. This is the basic condition for the peoples to co-exist, for their freedoms to be secured, and for equality and justice to be established.   *To embrace Mr Abdullah Öcalan's will for a solution is not only a political responsibility, but also an expression of the deep responsibility we feel for teh future of our people. His will for a solution is an opportunity for the freedom and equality of peoples and we will never allow this opportunity to be lost. The gains of the Kurdish people must be protected and carried forward with the new period.    *The socialisation of the process started under the leadership of Mr Öcalan is of critical importance. The call for 'Peace and Democratic Society' is also a reflection of the common demands of the peoples. The fact that our people and the whole society embrace this process will play a major role in the establishment and permanence of peace.   *In order to strengthen the will for a solution on the social ground, we will hold public meetings and gatherings in more than 100 centres in the coming period. Within the scope of this plan, we will inform the public and make them a part of the process. Especially with the March 8 and Newroz celebrations to be held in all areas under the leadership of women, we will put our determination to protect the will for a solution into practice in the most enthusiastic way.   *Ensuring the physical freedom of Mr Öcalan is of great importance for the success of the process. We emphasise that his physical freedom and conditions must be improved without delay in order for him to express his thoughts freely.   *From all these points of view, the government or the state should no longer be in a state of uncertainty about the road map for the solution and should take clearer and more concrete steps. In addition, the parliamentary ground, which Mr Öcalan insisted on, should be made more operational and all segments of society, from the opposition to NGOs, should be given responsibility.   'WE WILL TURN THE CALL INTO A SOCIAL MOVEMENT'   As DBP, we are determined to protect the Call of the Century made on 27 February and to grow this process together with our people. We will continue our struggle to keep the will for a solution alive, to meet the demands of our people and to make peace permanent. This process is not just a political proposal, but a concrete expression of the struggle for freedom and equality of all peoples. We will do our part to ensure that Mr Öcalan's call becomes a social movement and we will work to strengthen peace and solution at every step."
